The Xtra Pear RuleIf you can reasonably do the job yourself — but it'd be easier, safer or actually possible with another person — that's an Xtra Pear of Hands job.

This isn't “hire someone to take over”. It's practical help alongside you. You're still running the job — I'm the person on the other end of the couch, timber, wheelbarrow, ute or whatever else has turned into a two-person problem.
✓ “Can you help me build my shed?” — Yep.
✕ “Can you build my shed while I'm at work?” — That's not really what this is.

So… what’s a Pear job?
Usually, it’s the bit that sucks with one person.
It doesn’t have to fit neatly into a service category. If you’ve got the job and another person beside you makes it easier, safer or actually possible, ask.
“Can you hold this while I line it up?”
DIY second person
Sheds, panels, timber, brackets, flatpacks and jobs where you need somebody on the other end.
“This couch is not getting down those stairs by itself.”
Move it, don’t move house
Furniture around the house, awkward items, garages, sheds and room-to-room moves.
“I can do the yard. I just need another set of hands.”
Yard help
Wheelbarrows, materials, clean-ups, carrying, shifting and getting through the physical stuff together.
“We’ve got the party sorted. Can you help us set the bastard up?”
Set-up & pack-down
Tables, speakers, decorations, gear, BBQs and the jobs around an event that need another person.

If it’s legal, sensible and it’s genuinely an extra-pair-of-hands job, I’m happy to hear it.

Meet the bloke behind the Pear.
G’day, I’m Jed.
I’ve called the Mitchell Shire area home for the last 16 years and I’ve run “I’ll Do It!” on and off for about 20 years.
Turns out I enjoyed doing the jobs — but I enjoyed helping someone else get their job done even more.
That’s basically where Xtra Pear of Hands came from.
I’m happy being the second person. I’ll turn up on time, follow your lead, get stuck in and help find another way when Plan A doesn’t work.
I’m not here to pretend I’m the expert or take your job over.
